With every new update,Borderlands 3adds new content and mechanics or changes their old content and mechanics. Usually, this new content includes new areas, enemies, quests, vehicles, and many new legendaries to hunt for. The foes are usually much higher level than even the strongest players. In turn, they raise the max level for the players, so they have something to strive towards.
The latest DLC to Borderlands 3 cappedthe max level in the game at level 72. Although there have been several DLCs released since then, none of them have upgraded the level cap.

Reaching this level can be quite a grind. For reference, here are the amounts of XP needed for each level up to 72.
With the newest cap beingLevel 72, players have to their disposal70 SkillPoints. Maxing out oneSkillTree takes 26 Skill Points which, with quick math, you can max out two separateSkill TreeswithCapstones. That leaves you 18 spare Skill Points. You can get to the middle part of the third tree, max out some of your favorite skills or just spend it on the two remaining Skill Trees.
