Torchlight 3 has been officially announced! We’re taking a look at the release date, and everything else we know about this upcoming game. If you’ve never played a Torchlight game, they are very reminiscent of Diablo, but have their own spin on the genre.

This might seem a bit confusing to some, but this game was originally billed as being Torchlight Frontiers. This was going to be a massively multiplayer online game, rather than what the first two games which were just dungeon crawlers were more standard dungeon crawler games with peer-to-peer multiplayer. Arc Games has decided to move away from that, and re-brand the game as Torchlight 3 and not make it a MMORPG. The game was also going to be free-to-play, but will now be a premium, pay once only style of game.

Torchlight 3 Release Date

Torchlight 3 will be releasing on PC at some point in 2020! The game will release on console “shortly after” the PC version, but there’s no exact dates/times for either version at the moment. If a date is revealed, we’ll update this guide with the exact information. Beta is equally as mysterious, with only the “soon” label being placed upon it.

Frontier to Torchlight 3 Changes

Due to the major change of going from a free-to-play game to a premium game there have been some major changes to the game. These include following a more traditional Act structure that’s common in dungeon crawlers, removal of horizontal progression, zones are now private, you can create an offline mode character, and they’ve also removed the in-game real-money store!

The game was originally on the Arc launcher, but due to the change in business model the game will now be available through Steam!
