To track various resources and animals inNew World,you will need to level up your gathering skills. The more you level up, you will find that you will unlock the ability to track certain resources.
That said, you can level up gathering skills by gathering at low-level resource points until you fill a gather meter - when this meter fills up, you will gain one level in whatever skill.
Keep gathering, and you will eventually unlock tracking of resources, and when this happens, you will be able to track specific resources via the compass at the top of the screen when you are near them.
