DayZ is a survival sim which is no light task. If you don’t manage to set up camp in time you may succumb to a range of things, primarily zombie attacks! But also the cold, illness and hunger, which is why building fires is an extremely important part of the gameplay.
To make a fire you are going to need a few items to start off with:
To get the sticks for your fire you will need to look for some bushes and start cutting them down. You will need at leastFour Short Sticksin order to make a fire that you’re able to use. You can use your blade of choice to help you with this.
Place the sticks in yourInventoryandCombinethem with theTinder, you will then be able to place your fireplace kit on the ground wherever you need to light it.
In yourInventoryyou will then want to equip yourBox of Matches. Crouch down and approach the fireplace kit to be met with a prompt to light the fire by holding the command. You can now start your fire. To keep it alight you will want to head to some nearby trees and chop them down toCollect Firewoodwhich will sustain the fire.

How Can I do it Without Matches?
If you don’t happen to have any matches then there is another way to light the fire.
Complete the same steps as above up until the point where you need to make the fireplace kit. Then, for the next part you will need:
Approach a dark looking tree and click the command to collect some tree bark. Once you have enough you will see it spawn in front of the tree and you can then place it in yourInventory.
Then open yourInventoryup andCombineaStickwith aRag, and equip the item you have just made. Point the camera to the spot where you want to set up your fireplace and click the command to build it.
Finally, go back into yourInventoryand combine theTree Barkwith aStickin order to craft aHand-Drill Kit. Once you have made this and equipped it you will see the command prompt to start a fire with it.
